Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell is an American television journalist anchor and anchor and commentator on NBC News based in Washington D.C. Following a childhood living in New York City, Mitchell obtained a bachelor's degree in English literature from the University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell began her career with KYW Radio and TV as an Philadelphia reporter in 1967. She was then a reporter for the CBS-affiliate WDVM-TV, (then WTOP), situated in Washington DC. A few years later, she was a general reporter for NBC News in Washington. From 1981 onwards she started reporting from the White House. In 1988 she became the the chief reporter for Congress. Mitchell was appointed the chief White House correspondent in 1992 and the chief foreign affairs reporter in 1994 for NBC News in 1994. Mitchell was a panelist for the TV program Meet the Press and also host of the show. Mitchell was a panelist at the debates in 1988 between George Bush & Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married to Alan Greenspan, former Chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell has been awarded the Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism in The John F. Kennedy School of Government. Also in 2004, Radio-Television News Directors Association, (RTNDA) recognized Mitchell for her role to the cause of First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell began reporting on for the White House in 1981-1988, and during the presidency of Ronald Reagan. Her coverage included a variety of crucial stories such as the Iran-Contra controversy, tax and budget reforms and also the issue of arms control. She traveled widely together with the president Reagan for summits together with Mikhail Gorbachev.
